What Is Up With Home Beer Brewing?

If you drink enough different kinds of beers, as opposed to an excess of one kind of beer, then you begin to develop a taste for beer and then you all of a sudden start to search for a particular taste of beer that you would like to try because your experience with beer tells you that a certain taste may be good in beer.

So you begin your quest and you start to taste every micro brewed beer and foreign beer you can get your hands on and aside from getting very drunk you also start to realize that the taste you are searching for just may not be out there and that if you are looking for a specific taste that is out there then that may be an opportunity to get into Beer Brewing on your own and fill what you see as an opportunity in the Beer Brewing market.  So you set out to learn the art of Beer Brewing and since Beer Brewing is something you are probably allowed to do in your home you get yourself a starter kit and your quest for that perfect tasting beer begins.

You can usually get a Beer Brewing starter kit anywhere and I have even seen them sold in a local supermarket in the same aisle as the soda pop and grape juice.  I always wondered why it was not near the beer aisle but if you can put aside some bad planning on the part of your local vendor you can invest in a Beer Brewing starter kit for about $70 or so and find yourself diving into the world of being a master beer brewer.

It does not take long to realize why it takes years to learn how to brew just the most basic of beers and why it can be so difficult to brew a beer with any special kind of taste.  You can most certainly learn Beer Brewing on your own but you are going to need to develop the same respect for the ingredients and the equipment that master beer brewers use.

It Really Is All About The Whole Picture

When you are learning about Beer Brewing one of the first things any book, or brewer, will tell you is that if you want to brew the same tasting beer then consistency is extremely important and that consistency is not just in the ingredients but it is also in how you use and maintain your equipment as well.  Beer has to ferment and anything added to the fermentation process, including cleaners or extra water from maintaining the equipment, can definitely affect how your beer tastes.

So good luck with your own beer and remember to write down every recipe you try because even the slightest change in a single ingredient can change everything.  Have fun and remember that you don’t have to drink everything you brew.

Beer Belly and Beer Consumption: The Connection

Health is one area in today’s world that people have become more conscious about. It is one of the major aspects of growth, living, and lifestyle. The healthier a person is, the better. In terms of food and drinks, physical health is a critical issue. There has been continuous and ongoing researches, studies, and discussions regarding this.

Whatever a person swallows and take in to his body, it will always be exuded out in some form of energy. Oftentimes, a person’s food and drinks will determine the person’s health conditions. It doesn’t only mean the type or kind of food or drinks a person digests, but it also considers the volume and quantity a person takes in. This is the case with beer belly. It doesn’t really prove that beer belly is caused by beer consumption. Beer belly is actually a result of over-eating without exercise. If a person’s eats too much and he lacks muscle toning, he is the more likely person to experience and suffer beer belly, than those who eat a balanced meal and who regularly exercise. People may assume that because of beer consumption, a person gets beer belly. No. Although it is believed to be true, it’s not. Beer belly and beer consumption are not directly correlated. It doesn’t mean that beer consumption will not cause any harm. It will, but in a different context and sense. Beer drinking is fine, it’s the over consumption of beer or alcoholism, plus improper food intake, that destroy and distort the normal functioning of one’s body. Take beer belly for example, as mentioned, it is not the beer’s fault, but the person who does not properly monitor or who takes for granted his health.

There may be strong evidences that show how beer or alcohol consumption can lead to sicknesses and other health problems. However, beer per se, is not really the problem. It has its medical advantages as well. It’s the person responsibility to take care of his health by controlling what he does to his body or what he takes in to his body. Overdoing, overeating, overdrinking, and overworking are the key partners that crumble the body or the person’s health.

A person’s body is not against beer drinking because it has some medical purposes. The body welcomes the flow of this liquid inside its system — it doesn’t cause anything harmful. Only the person’s control and taking charge over his food, drinks, activities, etc., will determine if the body is an easy target of the disease.

How to Brew Your Own Beer

Most beer lovers out there who are looking for more ways to enjoy their beer drinking experience can spice things up a little by brewing their own beer. With a little information and the right tools you can brew your own beer, and you can do it right at home.

The basic equipment that you will need for home brewing your beer includes a basic home brewing kit, a stainless steel enameled pot large enough to hold up to three gallons of liquid and a long stirring spoon. The brewing process actually is made up of a couple of steps.

The first step is mashing, which involves crushing and soaking the malt in warm water to create an extract of the malt, after which the whole thing is left at constant temperature for the enzymes to convert the starches into fermentable sugar. For more details www.dishadvice.com Sparging, the next method, involves getting the darker heavy liquid called the wort. The wort is then boiled to remove excess water and microorganisms and hops are added. Fermentation follows, which may be done once or twice depending on the method you use. Finally, when fermentation is done, the beer may either be bottled directly or added more carbon dioxide through force carbonation.

You can opt to make your beer according to three ways: the single stage method, the two stage method, and the blow by blow method. All these techniques have their advantages and disadvantages and it is up to you to discover which style you can work with the best.

In the single stage method the beer stays in one bucket during the entire fermentation process at a temperature range of 65-75F, and should be bottled immediately after fermentation is over. The whole process takes about 5 to 7 days. The beer tends to carry with it the unsavory flavors of the sediment if not bottled immediately, and although this is harmless, it is up to you if you want the smell of yeast, hop pellets and other by products of boiling in your beer.

The Two stage method uses a primary fermenter; the initial fermentation is very active and takes 3 days, after which the beer is siphoned off to another fermenter made of glass; the second stage is usually done at a lower temperature. The advantage of this method is that the beer can stay in the fermenter until you are ready to bottle it.

The blow by blow method uses a glass fermenter (called a carboy) along with a three or four foot long hose about one inch in diameter. For more details www.camping-outdoors-recipes.com The beer is poured into the carboy and the hose fitted to it. To form a tight air-seal the other end of the hose goes into a small bucket of water. The active fermentation goes through the hose and into the bucket. When fermentation is done, the hose is removed, a stopper and air-lock is attached and the beer is bottled.
